Description

In this video I introduce a novel corporal dilator coined as “The Fork” (patent pending) utilized for the implantation of both types of penile implants (malleable and inflatable ). It comprises two adjustable 10 mm wide parallel graded dilator rods attached by a single handle. This unique design allows bilateral synchronized corporal body dilation and length measurement in a single step during penile prosthesis implantation. The twin rods being both fixed as well as parallel to each other makes each serve its twin as a bridle and guide ensuring restrain from any exaggerated or unaligned advancement through corporal cavities thus protecting against potential perforation and crossover, respectively. The ultimate goal of utilizing “The Fork” is to minimize the risk of intra and post-operative complications resulting from faulty corporal body dilatation while reducing intraoperative time. I aspire the Fork to be worthy of addition to the prosthetic urology armamentarium.
