Description

This video demonstrates the use of the Rigicon Self-Retaining Retractor together with a single-use Furlow inserter during penoscrotal inflatable penile prosthesis surgery. Performed and filmed by Prof. Koenraad Van Renterghem, and edited by Dr. Bugra Cetin, the video walks through the full procedure from incision to closure, with particular attention to retractor placement and adjustment as dissection deepens, and to cylinder passage using the single-use Furlow inserter. Proper positioning of the self-retaining retractor voids the necessity for a surgical assistant while improving surgical exposure and corporal access. The single-use Furlow inserter allows atraumatic transglanular cylinder passage, with a technique shown to prevent crossover by leaving the contralateral dilator in place during insertion. Together, these tools support a more reproducible and efficient penoscrotal implant technique. We desired to create a practical visual guide for surgeons seeking to refine their approach to exposure and cylinder delivery in penile prosthesis surgery.
