Description

We present a novel, office-based technique called the PATIO procedure (Percutaneous Adjustment of a Testicular Implant in the Office) for optimizing patient satisfaction with a testicular prosthesis. In this approach, patients who perceive their implant as underfilled or overly full after surgery can have its volume adjusted percutaneously under local anesthesia. Using sterile technique, a small-gauge needle is inserted into the implant port to either add or remove saline, achieving the desired contour and firmness without the need for repeat surgery. In our case, 1.5 cc of saline was added in the office to correct underfilling, which was well tolerated and resulted in improved cosmetic and tactile satisfaction. This technique provides a simple, safe, and efficient method to fine-tune prosthesis volume postoperatively, enhancing patient-centered outcomes in testicular implant surgery.
