Description

This video covers a primer on reservoirs and the surgical complications that can occur with reservoir placement during an inflatable penile prosthesis. In the video we describe a novel technique for direct visualization of reservoir placement using a penoscrotal approach in a single incision that goes into the space of retzius. We also show how this same technique can be modified to place the reservoir in an ectopic location in patients’ who have had prior abdominal surgery or pelvic issues prohibiting reservoir placement in the space of retzius. This new technique is demonstrated in live surgery and our experience using this technique at our institution is detailed with over 336 patients that have undergone this technique of reservoir placement. This novel technique is safe, effective and has low complication rates.
